Kin Kin

Kin Kin Ryou is a Gohd who purposefully crashed his spacepod into Neo Tokyo 2241 AD. He, along with seventeen of his brethren (known collectively as the Raiders), had come to begin an attack on Earth, starting with Neo Tokyo, in an attempt to locate and kill Oki Tsukino after she assassinated his captain's brother. He holds the rank of marauder. He is of large build and keeps his hair slicked back, save for a few rogue strands that hang loose over his forehead.

Personality[]

Kin Kin considers himself a professional at what he does. Unlike many others on the team, he doesn't really have a problem with Darliak's terrible, unfunny jokes—it just isn't his style nor his own manner of expression. He can even be seen slightly smiling at one of Darliak's failed jokes.

Media appearances[]

StarGazer (1999)[]

Kin made his first appearance as a major antagonist in the first season of this manga from 1999.

They Rise (2009)[]

In this top-down 2D zombie survival game, a StarGazer wall scroll can be found hanging in Thor's Bedroom that features the Raiders (including Kin) hovering over the heroes from the show. If the player is playing as Thor and looks at the image, he comments, "I don't know why I still have this on my wall. This anime was a complete embarrassment." and if the player has already encountered zombies and are at least an hour into the game, this text will change to, "StarGazer. If someone told me that this anime was the reason for the zombie apocalypse, I would completely understand."

Monster Space (2013)[]

Kin appears as a boss in this 2D action-platformer. The player can randomly encounter the entire Raider group but must fight them in order of rank before it will unlock harder ranks. Because of this, Kin is part of a later set of Gohd Raiders the player may procedurally encounter, alongside the other marauders. Encountering him is unlocked after the player defeats all three first lieutenants, which includes Kin Kin Ryou, Naupa Kilion, and two other characters. Defeating them will unlock the two high marauders—Zi Teku and one other—to be able to be encountered as a boss battle.

Dangerous Wilds (2014)[]

The Raiders can still appear in this sequel to Monster Space, but the sheer number of possible encounters available has greatly lowered their chance to occur. He is a somewhat competent boss and will appear alongside his fellow marauder companions. His chance to randomly spawn in a settlement attack is low.

Long Story (2015)[]

The Raiders were set to appear during the first subchapter of Chapter 15: Above & Beyond, entitled 15-1: Terran-Gohd War; however the game was later split up in 2023 to allow the space segment of the game to be its own separate game for better story telling purposes.

Grown (2016)[]

Kin and the other raiders appear late into Chapter 16, rounding it out before Chapter 17. They do not reappear in later chapters.

TLDR: Another Long Story (2023)[]

The Raiders appear during the first subchapter of Chapter 1, entitled 1-1: Terran-Gohd War. The Gohd Raiders land on the planet and the player must fight them all, leading up to a battle against their leader, Kaklak Vorion. Kin is a latter boss during this section. This battle ultimately leads the party to travel into space, where the rest of the game takes place.

Behind the scenes[]

Being an extremely early character concept after my discovery of anime in high school, it can be assumed that the "slicked back hair" description of Kin Kin likely was made in reference to Tseng from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII subfranchise.
