Pteis is the T3 home planet of the Nrrlaks.

Pteis consists of four continents — with two large continents flanking a pair of smaller ones.

Summary[]

Pteis

Common Name[]

Location[]

Pteis is the third planet in the Darin System, behind Abystreton, Aquins, and Hoglin, but in front of Pator.

Planet Type[]

Pteis is a telluric planet.

Atmosphere and Climate[]

Moons[]

Pteis is orbited by only one moon, Pator. A lifeless world, it actually possesses yellow spice, with a slightly higher value on the galactic market than Pteis' red spice.

Locations[]

The planet has seven major cities, located on four continents. These are Leogoz, Volbelley, Altex, Mineth, Olyrussald, Kipeijing, Norrott, Norta, Sapen, and Plaxes.

Leogoz[]

Leogoz was the first city founded on Pteis, and is the brainchild of Chief Kamale II. His descendants have remained in power, and their culture perfectly integrates citizens of their allies, as well. Though not a Utopia, it is still a great place to live.

Volbelley[]

Altex[]

Mineth[]

Olyrussald[]

Kipeijing[]

Norrott[]

Norta[]

Sapen[]

Plaxes[]

Resources[]

Pteis is known for its red spice reserves, which are used in flavoring certain foods and can be used as defense against would-be attacks by utilizing it as an eye irritant.

Life[]

Intelligent[]

A great many species have come and gone during the geological history of the planet Pteis. Many arrived from other worlds, while others evolved here, such as the Nrrlak.

Name   Brief description
Channel Surfer Channel Surfer Spore The Channel Surfers have devolved all organs not directly needed for watching TV. Industry, services and war are all taken care of by robots. A number of them crash landed on Planet Pteis during the early "Permian Period", where life had only recently begun traveling onto land to establish itself there. Evidence supports the notion that their crash was very much avoidable, but that they were too busy watching television to notice the collision warnings.

Those that survived did not last very long, and they became easy prey for the ______.

Draconian Warrior Draconian Warrior Spore The Draconians found on Pteis were the descendants of a colony world of theirs that had been enslaved by the Grox. During a war against a colony of Space Locusts, they reached the planet Pteis where they shot down the Locust colony's last remaining ship. They proceeded to send down extermination squads to wipe out the survivors, but the Locust's guerrilla warfare tactics thwarted the Grox-Draconian squads for a time. To combat this, the Grox genetically engineered some Draconians into epically monstrous forms. While nearly all of the normal Draconian Warriors were eventually wiped out, some of these "epics" remained alive for many millennia after.

The very last sighting of a living Epic Draconian Warrior was in GY 4,633,270,000.

Eryorynchosapiens Eryorynchosapiens Spore The Eryorynchosapiens are a species of semi-sapient descendants of the Therioherpeton. They are the pinnacle of evolution for their lineage, with a big brain, manipulative limbs, and a sense of curiosity for its environment.

However, they surprisingly never surpassed this stage of development and had gone extinct by the time that the Nrrlaks reached their stone age, around GY 4,633,200,000.

Loron Loron Spore The Lorons were an aggressive species that reached its stone age around GY 4,635,300,000 -- coincidentally around the same time as the Spawn Punishers and the Neohomo. They formed the Tribe of the Cyan Waters, named after the rapidly-flowing river that passed their tribal grounds. In maps by civilized archaeologists explaining tribal influences, they are universally represented in cyan.

First hostilities between the Loron and the Zrrlak occurred in GY 4,636,020,000, during the beginning of the War of the Axe and Claw between the Zrrlaks and the Spawn Punishers. Sensing opportunity and it is generally now assumed at the behest of a whispering Rat Creature, the Loron snuck into the Zrrlak territory to steal their food rations. They were not careful enough and were spotted however, leading to the Zrrlak attacking the transgressor. The Loron used this attack as an excuse to announce war plans against the Zrrlak.

Hostilities were mostly in a cold war state for many millennia, with only skirmishes occurring here and there until GY 4,636,660,000. As a rite of passage, Chief Kamale II sends Omalie to scout out the Neohomo territory and this ultimately leads to them choosing to make peace with the species to defend against the combined might of the Spawn Punishers and the Lorons. The Lorons however somehow gain wind of this (again it is now widely assumed this had to do with the Rat Creatures, who are thought to have tried swaying the Neohomo to attack the Zrrlaks as well), and they immediately retaliate, leading to the War of the Flame and Flight, which would last for 150,000 years.

Hostilities would again die down slightly. Even so, the Zrrlak would discover that the Lorons had in fact subjugated the Snorkel Sea Scorpions by GY 4,637,210,000, forcing them to give much of their food rations to the Tribe of the Cyan Waters and its ravenous Chief Quapa.

The Second War of the Flame and Flight would begin in GY 4,637,740,000 as retribution for the utter decimation of the Spawn Punisher tribe. The initial attack involved the Lorons attempting to burn down the Zrrlak fishing hut with the hopes of making food collection more difficult for them, but this attack failed. The Snorkel Sea Scorpions openly offer a gift to the Zrrlaks during this period to show their defiance of their subjugators. The Lorons were soundly defeated, and this placed Chief Quapa in a deep, brooding depression.

in GY 4,639,570,000, the Lorons were still barely holding on and Zrrlak Chief Kamale II saw an opportunity to finally bring down the tribe. He and his tribe attacked the Lorons and slew all of their remaining major players, but left the tents standing, believing they could dismantle them later. This finally would occur in GY 4,639,640,000 when they came to break down the chieftain's hut only to find that Quapa's mate was still residing within. She birthed one final child, Amalen, who tried without success to take on their attackers. Soon after the mate was slain as the building around her collapsed, thus ending their journey.

Monobrachisapiens Monobrachisapiens Spore The Monobrachisapiens were a sapient species of sophonts that had crashlanded on the planet early on in the planet's terrestrial history. They use their fan-like sails to convey emotions as well as to regulate their body temperatures.

Unfortunately, despite their intelligence they were unable to survive on the planet and were driven to extinction by the Grox during an early planetary sweep.

Neohomo Neohomo Spore The Neohomo are a sapient species that evolved from the Proterron that had been brought to Planet Pteis by the Space Locusts. They reached sapience and formed their own tribal societies around GY 4,635,300,000 -- coincidentally around the same time as the Loron and the Spawn Punishers. Their tribe became known as the Tribe of Permeable Skin; in maps by civilized archaeologists explaining tribal influences, they are universally represented in pink.
Nrrlak Nrrlak Villager
Qiangniao Qiangniao Spore Hailing from the planet of Lin, the Qiangniao are a race of crane-like monks that live prosperous lives. They are great storytellers, and tend to be very wise. They arrived on Planet Pteis during the Zrrlak's tribal era, and quietly observed the machinations of the various sapient species found thereon. It is believed that they may have had some idea as to the Rat Creatures' presence and sought to solve the issue. If this is true, they failed in their mission. The only known record of their having ever reached the planet was a collection of fossilized Qiangniao bones discovered many millennia later by civilized archaeologists.

Some 100,000 years after the Rat Creatures were seemingly eliminated, Qiangniao could be found in large numbers wandering the planet's surface, possibly seeking out evidence that the creatures were actually dead. During this period of time, one group of the beings notably committed ritual suicide by walking single-file into the sea. This was a unique case however and most lived out their days on the planet, eventually allying with some of the Nrrlak to serve as advisors or high-ranking religious staff.

Rat Creature Rat Creature Spore Rat Creatures, also known as the Tribe of the Violent Violets, were a clandestine species whose background history is not well understood until they revealed themselves to the Zrrlaks, Snorkel Sea Scorpions, and Neohomo after the destruction of both the Spawn Punishers and the Loron in GY 4,640,010,000, interrupting the Zrrlak's Final Concerto. In maps by civilized archaeologists explaining tribal influences, they are universally represented in lavender -- the color of their fur.

The creatures are carnivorous, and once they revealed themselves announced their desire to consume all three races to extinction. Although the Neohomo were likely to join the Nrrlak/Sea Scorpion alliance beforehand, this cemented the likelihood.

Evidence discovered many centuries later by civilized archaeologists hinted that the Rat Creatures may have been the driving force guiding the allegiance between the Spawn Punishers and the Loron, having hidden and traveled underground to secretly whisper to the chieftains of both tribes, seeing opportunity in their inert aggressiveness. Other anecdotal evidence suggested that these creatures were in fact of Diimonic origin.

Snorkel Sea Scorpions Snorkel Sea Scorpion Tribal Spore The Snorkel Sea Scorpions are a species of intelligent organisms whose ancestors were imported from the planet Sagan IV by the Permitted. Over time, they evolved into larger organisms with stronger brains. Although blind, they reached civilization in GY 4,633,200,000, making them the second tribal sapient species to emerge during the planet's Tribal Renaissance, after the Nrrlak. Their tribe became known as the Tribe of the ____________; in maps by civilized archaeologists explaining tribal influences, they are universally represented in brown.

The Nrrlak were excited and intrigued to meet another race of their same basic intelligence level and decided to serenade the creatures in GY 4,___,___,000 in an attempt to sway them over to their own religious ways. This attempt was successful and the allegiance began the lengthy history of the Nrrlaki Empire, before its eventual absorption into the Great Trade Organization.

The Snorkel Sea Scorpions were later subjugated by the Lorons at an unknown date, forced to provide the aggressive species with most of their food rations. However, they were freed from this wrath of tyranny in GY 4,639,570,000 when the Zrrlak eradicated their population.

Space Locust Man LucarioGuy Spore After a colonial ship of Space Locust crashed onto the planet in an attempt to escape the Grox and their Draconian slave-warriors, a few stragglers survived the extermination squads sent to the surface to root them out and eventually set up tribes on the planet. Roughing it out for several thousand years, their descendants forgot their starfaring past and took to the primitive ways of their ancestors once more.
Spawn Punisher Spawn Punisher Spore The Spawn Punishers were a warmongering species that reached its stone age around GY 4,635,300,000 -- coincidentally around the same time as the Loron and the Neohomo. Their tribe became known as the Tribe of the Smashing Hammer; in maps by civilized archaeologists explaining tribal influences, they are universally represented in green, the color of their blood.

It is believed that the Spawn Punishers were in fact the very last attempt to create a species capable of eradicating the Space Locust remnants found on Pteis, though the last evidence of the Demi on the planet was some 1.1 million years prior. It is more likely that another species created them to fulfill the same job as many in the galaxy consider the Space Locusts to be a vile pest that must be eradicated at any cost.

The species is notable for having killed the first Nrrlak chieftain, Kamale in combat during the onset of the War of the Axe and Claw in GY 4,636,020,000. They later started the Second War of the Axe and Claw in GY 4,636,810,000, some 790,000 years later. Fed up with their malicious antics, Chieftain Kamale II decided to wipe them off the face of the planet for the safety of his own people.

Too'die'can Too'die'can V3 Spore The Too'die'cans are a sect of Toocan biomechs that arrived on Planet Pteis during the Zrrlak's tribal era, though they have no recorded history with the creatures. Evidence suggests that only the Version 3 biomechs were ever brought to the planet: This version is agile and sneaky, with mock flowers and leaves to help it sneak in to the right locations before using its sniper rifles to fire at foes.

Flora[]

Name   Brief description
Beekardin No Image Beekardin is a species of large-sized, "tree" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the most common large plant-equivalent on the planet.
Denuube No Image Denuube is a species of small flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the second-most common small plant-equivalent on the planet.
Erythrosapienoid Erythrosapienoid Spore Erythrosapienoids are a species of mobile, omnivorous flora that have evolved from crawling sheets of alga-equivalent.
Gisplun Gisplun Spore Gisplun is a species of large-sized, "tree" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the second-most common large plant-equivalent on the planet.
Lorcenneal No Image Lorcenneal is a species of large-sized, "tree" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the third-most common large plant-equivalent on the planet.
Missoupi No Image Missoupi is a species of medium-sized, "bush" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the most common medium plant-equivalent on the planet.
Nihile Nihile Spore Nihile is a species of small flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the third-most common small plant-equivalent on the planet. Consisting of a semi-exposed deep brown bulb, two thick stems emerge and during good parts of the year produce large fruit known for their excellent taste. Fringed leaves extend out near the lower regions of the organism, though usually they are mostly brown and dead, with only the middles still alive and viable.
Ozzle Ozzle Spore Ozzle is a species of medium-sized, "bush" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the second-most common medium plant-equivalent on the planet.
Serliptoy No Image Serliptoy is a species of small flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is ancient, and considered to be one of the oldest species of vegetation on the planet. The fossil record shows that it has existed since life first began coming to land. It is the most common small plant-equivalent on the planet.
Truhukee No Image Truhuee is a species of medium-sized, "bush" flora that dots the surface of Pteis. It is the third-most common medium plant-equivalent on the planet.

Name   Brief description
Adetracias prime Adetracias Prime Spore
Bugahoulger Bugahoulger Spore
Brute Monkey No Image

Caudochiros Caudochiros Spore The Caudochiros are a species imported by an unknown benefactor. They are the descendants of the Synoceros, losing several limbs but gaining manipulators on its tail, giving them a similar appearance to the Didactylopes.

In GY _______, the _____ befriended this species, and the two existed under a mutually beneficial alignment. Small clusters of Caudochiroses, Opisthoceratas

Confused Eyes Confused Eyes Spore
Cootelaene Cootelaene Spore

Demi Demi Spore Demis are the non-sapient descendants of the loathsome Grox. Having followed a colony ship of Space Locust to the system, the Grox -- with their Draconian slave-warriors in tow -- attacked the ship and brought it down on the planet Pteis. Knowing their prey were stranded, they disembarked on the planet too as extermination squads to hunt down the remaining stragglers. What they did not expect was for the Locusts to tear apart their ship and only way home.

The hundreds of years of guerrilla warfare that ensued led to several species being genetically modified by the Grox, including the Draconians and the Grox, themselves, adapted to strike fear into the hearts of their foe.

While they succeeded in eradicating the Monobrachisapiens that had hidden on the world for many millions of years by that point, the Grox fell to the same problem as the Locusts and reverted to primitive, tribal ways without access to their technology. Unlike the Locusts, however, they completely lost their sapient capacities and reverted to mere fauna.

Now, the Demi are violent, stubborn creatures that go berserk at the sight of red. This makes them rare to see in large numbers, as they tend to kill each other off.

Demon Pig Demon Pig Spore The scrub brushes of Xiik are the home turf of the Demon Pigs, a tough, highly aggressive (when provoked) species of suid-equivalents.

Though they had zero association with any of the Zrrlaki lineage, they were heavily predated upon by the sapient Grox and later the semi-sapient Demi.

As the scrub brushes disappeared, so too did the Demon Pigs until they cease to appear on the fossil record, around GY 4,___,___,000. Heavy predation by the Demi also is considered vital to their species extinction, putting far too much strain on a slow-breeding species.

Dryopithecus Dryopithecus HydromancerX Spore This breed of Dryopithecus, Dryopithecus pteis, was collected by this colony of Space Locusts during a time traveling trek to discover their roots — they believe that this species — or rather, the one they actually obtained at the time — was a direct ancestor of their kind. Because of this, they brought them back through time with them and populated their colony ship with them when they fled their home planet of Earth.

Like their terrestrial ancestors, the Dryopithecus is an arboreal great ape that does not swing by its arms. They are somewhat larger than their far older compatriots however, and its face is tilted to face forward, whereas Dryopithecus fontani, which it evolved from exhibited klinorhynchy — it was tilted downwards in profile. They consume soft leaves and fruit, but this also puts them at risk from predation by Erythrosapienoids and similar carnivorous flora.

They, alongside the Space Locust, would eventually evolve into a gigantic iteration of themselves via insular gigantism. This new descendant of D. fontani is too large at full maturity to spend any time in the trees and actually lose the capacity to successfully enter the treeline as they grow to the size of an elephant. At this stage they are known as Direpithecus rex.

Duoraptor Duoraptor Spore

Earl Earl Spore Earls were a strange species. Although the Pyncushes predated upon them for a time, they were never a primary meal source. Despite this, Earls were fearful creatures that would hide behind bushes if they saw Pyncushes wandering by. They were the subject of an abduction in GY 4,500,000,000. Although many remained on-world after this incident, they would eventually go extinct by GY 4,633,200,000.

Some evidence points to the species being exported to Planet Funkotron before their eventual extinction, where they would eventually reach sapience.

Enigma Rift Jumper Enigma Rift Jumper Spore Enigma Rift Jumpers are not of the planet Pteis; instead, they immigrated to the planet via rift jumping. This entails them opening rifts in reality in order to quickly delve into the depths. This normally only works on their homeworld, but occasional problems may occur that can send them across time and space instead.

They can only keep two portals open at a time -- an entrance as well as an exit. Like on their homeworld, they can sometimes be found stuck inside of various formations across the planet.

Eomurp Eomurp Spore One of the first species to evolve on the planet after the Panspermia Event, Eomurps were simple herbivores that fed upon phytoplankton. They were slow and thus adapted backward-facing spines to defend against predators.

Although they went extinct around GY 1,000,000,000, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as a delicacy food item for extrapteisrestrial filter feeder races.

Ermi Ermi Spore

Eucursor gargantum Eucursor gargantum Spore The Eucursor gargantum is a species of herbivorous Monoanticheran imported from the subcontinent of Thalassia on the planet Snaiad by an unknown benefactor.

They stand upwards of 5 meters tall and stand at the edges of the forests, using their second-head tongues to browse the highest branches.

Unlike most life on Snaiad, these creatures lack any evidence of forelimbs and walk on double-jointed knees. They do however utilize skin flaps on the sides of their first-head face that holds their leathery eggs.

Eurystomarian Eurystomarian Spore The Eurystomarian is a species imported from the planet Snaiad by an unknown benefactor.

Flont Flont Spore Flonts evolved from Ronts, and were much more adept at handling their environment. Their forelimbs had evolved significantly, and they usually kept them off the ground as functional hands.

Although they went extinct around GY _,___,___,000, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as an available species sold to galactic zoos.

Flying Hellship Flying Hellship Spore Flying Hellships were a species of genetically-modified Gigapelycozoons.
Forest Zyposh Forest Zyposh Spore Forest-dwelling subspecies of the Common Zyposh which live in smaller herds, thus reducing the risk of overpopulation. The Forest Zyposh feasts on the leaves, ferns, and tree bark, and for minerals, dirt.
Frunny Frunny Spore
Gloffi-Oh Gloffi-Oh Spore
Golden Gummi Bear Golden Gummi Bear Spore

Green Jem Green Jem Spore Green Jems are small mollusk-equivalents that grow natural crystals on their backs. They are nocturnal, spending the day sleeping or eating but spending the night hours mating, eating, and sleeping, among other activity. They can see thanks to their eye being on the very tip of their normally well-hidden mouth.
Green Nargacuga Nargacuga Green Spore The green Nargacuga is a species of wyvern-equivalent imported to the planet by an unknown benefactor. Here they inhabit the planet Pteis' many forest biomes, hiding in the shadows to slyly stalk their prey with terrifying speed and tenacity. Their unique tail is adapted to take down medium-sized organisms with a single swish.
Hayarris Hayarris Spore The Hayarris is a species imported from the icy world of Ambar VI by an unknown benefactor.

The species has had a difficult transition from the huge, black methane icebergs of its home environ to the subtropical grasslands of the planet Pteis. Where they grazed on the lichen- and moss-equivalents on Ambar that only existed in short supply, they now must feed on vegetation filling similar niches -- the Tree Dander and the spongy Memory Floor. The temperatures mean that they overheat far too quickly and they must spend much of their time out of the sunlight, while feeding at night.

Herino Herino Spore

Herrerasaurus Herrerasaurus Spore The Herrerasauruses were brought to Planet Pteis by the Space Locusts via time travel and DNA extraction, in a vain attempt to take pieces of their homeworld with them. When this colony ship crash landed on Pteis, the Herrerasauruses were left in stasis for many millennia, finally being released when the power drives of the decimated ship finally failed. They roamed the planet for many centuries hunting smaller game, but never had any lasting impact on the Zrrlak species themselves.
Hex-Primitive No Image
Hurungo Hurungo Spore The Hurungo are an imported species. What is interesting is the evidence that points to the spacefaring race that brought them to the planet in the first place: The Vhalslasks. The Vhalslasks are a species of space shamans that mysteriously disappeared some time during the early years of the current Fold, thought to have been subjugated by the now-lost Shino Empire.

Their color scheme continues to fail them on this planet, as the flora on Pteis is green in hue.

Jetturp Jetturp Spore Jetturps were one of many descendants of the Murps of Pteis. Their poison glands moved up on their bodies and their flagellum was replaced with a water jet propulsion system.

Although they went extinct around GY _,___,___,000, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as a delicacy food item for extrapteisrestrial filter feeder races.

Krunjj Krunjj Spore Krunjjes were amongst the first amphibious creatures to make landfall on Pteis. Though diminuitive, they were tenacious and survived against indelible odds.

Although they went extinct around GY _,___,___,000, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as an available species sold to galactic zoos.

Lascarpe Lascarpe Spore

Limurai Limurai Spore The Limurai are a species imported by an unknown benefactor. They are scaly bird-equivalents mostly known for the large fat deposits on their backs. Just like a camel from Earth it uses its humps for energy when little food can be found. They are believed to be distantly related to the Skart.
Lursharn Lursharn Spore Lursharns are one of many species of dragon-like organisms found on Planet Pteis, though this species is not thought to have originated on Pteis. They are larger, ambush-oriented predatory creatures that lurk in the treetops to drop down upon unsuspecting prey. They are known to feed upon Zyposh, which is how the Zrrlak come to know them, defending their Forest Zyposh from them like an Earth shepherd would defend his flock against a mountain lion. They also feed upon B'nabashafts and their relatives the Shleef, which are found on other planets.
Machamp Machamp LucarioGuy Spoe The Machamps were a species of Pokémon brought onboard the Space Locust colony vessel, which was subsequently brought down upon Planet Pteis by the Grox.

Using their four arms they would provide opponents with ceaseless punches and chops, or they can attack and defend simultaneously. They had heavy muscles that allow them to throw powerful punches that could send the victim clear over the horizon; legends say that a single arm alone could move a mountain, but this seems unlikely to be true. Another seemingly untrue legend states that they could throw 1,000 punches in 2 seconds. That being said, it actually can throw punches faster than it can think. Not only this, but they were incapable of accomplishing any work that required care or dexterity. It is believed that this lead to their eventual extinction.

Meirano Meirano Spore

Murp Murp Spore The holotype for a massive lineage of herbivorous zooplankton found on the planet to this day, Murps were primitive yet poisonous organisms that spread a toxic miasma to help fend off predators.

Although they went extinct, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as a delicacy food item for extrapteisrestrial filter feeder races.

Nalto Nalto Spore
Notexitation Notexitation Spore

Odontocerotitan Odontocerotitan Spore The Odontocerotitan was a species genetically modified from the synoceros, making it related to the Caudochiros.

Although they were modified by a species of nanotechnological sapients throughout the galaxy, this genus was created by the Grox to aid in hunting down the Space Locusts. They often would feed upon the Space Locust tribes and could therefore be found around them.

In GY 4,289,000,000 the Pyncush were first predated upon by the seriously aggressive Odontocerotitan. This conflict continued with the descendants of the Pyncush, the Nalto, with combat continuing some 243,000,000 years later around GY 4,532,000,000. This did not go well for the Naltos, which suffered terrible losses and nearly went extinct. However the Odontocerotitans also took serious losses, and while the Naltos would recover, their foes would not. Instead, 7 million years later, they had eradicated the species.

Okastana Okastana Spore

Opisthocerata Opisthocerata Spore The Opisthoceratas were small, beach-dwelling predators that existed as one of the first terrestrial organisms on the planet. The primitive Krunjj, ever the curious lot, had allied with this species by GY 3,409,000,000, about 31 million years after emerging onto land. This makes the Opisthoceratas the earliest allies of the Nrrlaki lineage.

Although the original species went extinct at some point lost to time, their ancestors continue to scurry about the planet. The Nrrlaks have also revitalized them via time travel and DNA extraction and can now be found using them as small, domesticated pets as they traverse the galaxy.

Opisthojeta Opisthojeta Spore
Pario prime Pario Prime Spore
Popobawa Popobawa Spore The Popobawa was a species that inhabited the Planet Pteis during the Zrrlak's tribal era, between GY 4,633,200,000 and < 4,640,010,000.

Despite their fearsome appearance, the Popobawa looks meaner than it really is. It is actually a peaceful herbivore that will eat leaves and fruit of the flora of its planet. But due to the large amount of predators it has adapted a scare tactic that keeps them away: Its hideous form and loud scream scares away predators. It has 4 large ears that can wave around and flap. On the top of its body is a single nostril, then down the front are 2 eyes (one above the other) and finally a mouth full of herbivorous teeth. On the sides are 2 very long legs and on the very bottom are 2 thumbed hands. It use them to pick the flora and even defend itself with clawing. It is a pretty good runner and will even run towards predators flailing about to scare them off and make them think that it is trying to go eat them.

Primus Primus Horned Spore
Proterron Proterron Spore Originally found on the planet Anthropomundus, the Proterron is a post-human that feeds upon diatom-descended flora along the beaches of their homeworld. Several individuals of this species had their DNA extracted by time traveling Space Locusts from Earth, and were used to create a breeding population to be placed upon colony ships. One such colony ship found its way to Planet Pteis, where it was struck down by the Grox. Their pods were damaged in the wreck and they were released at the same time as the Space Locusts themselves, as well as the Worms.

This species would eventually evolve into the Neohomo, who would create the tribe known as the Tribe of Permeable Skin, which would ultimately become one of the first species to be inducted into what would eventually become known as the Zrrlaki Empire.

Pyncush Pyncush Spore Pyncushes evolved from Flonts, and while the two were otherwise very similar, the Pyncushes had a way deadlier venom device, launching shards of tooth-like spines.

Although they went extinct around GY _,___,___,000, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as an available species sold to galactic zoos.

Rafreaky Rafreaky Spore The Rafreakies were a species that inhabited the home continent of the Zrrlak during their tribal era.

Many consider the Rafreaky to be a weird creature. It lives in the savanna and is an omnivore, with its favorite food being fruits and grubs. Males have brightly colored feathery manes. They live in troops of 8 to 12 and have an alpha male similar to Earth's wolves. They are about the size a baboon and make similar sounds as them. When walking they walk straight ahead but when running they will run to one side or the other depending upon the threat. This is because of their weird leg configuration.

Rhea Rhea Spore Rheas were a species of ratite brought onto Space Locust colony ships from Earth. The particular one destined to crash on Planet Pteis used them for sustenance, both for their eggs and meat.
Rhynchanthropus Rhynchanthropus Spore The Rhynchanthropus was a species of Post-Human imported by an unknown benefactor. Although they survived for a time, they were eradicated in GY 3,567,000,000.

Ront No Image Ronts were descendant of the Krunjj, having evolved around GY 3,489,000,000. They were of the Nrrlaki lineage to develop dancing techniques to socialize with their own kind and others. They also were the first to evolve a second pair of limbs, though they were little more than spiked stubs to strike at foes with.

They were eventually surpassed by their own descendants, the Flonts in GY 3,679,000,000, giving them approximately 190 million years of existence.

Scarlet Kaiser Parrot Scarlet Kaiser Parrot Spore The Scarlet Kaiser Parrot is a carnivorous bird-equivalent that is known for being quite exotic. Normally to hunt, it waits in a tree, motionless. When something it can kill comes by, it then swoops and slams into the victim with its talons, shattering the spine, thus earning the Kaiser Parrot a meal. However, the Scarlet Kaiser Parrots found on the continent of the Zrrlak were known for their insular gigantism, and this plan of attack only worked for juvenile members of their species. Adults were very large. One particular nest of them were known to terrorize the Neohomos of the Tribe of Permeable Skin for millions of years, feeding upon their kind as they were unable to defend themselves against the beasts.

This led to a cold war contention between the Neohomo and the Zrrlak, who had long worshiped a bird-like deity that they believe kept balance in the world. When the Zrrlak first encountered an adult Scarlet Kaiser Parrot, it surprised them and killed Jamon, one of their tribe members. The Zrrlak immediately respected the creatures and the Neohomos believed that they saw the creatures as their deity, and by extension were OK with the tragedy that befell the Neohomos at the sharp beaks and talons of the creatures.

Neohomos continued to be slaughtered periodically by the creatures until sometime around GY _________, when the combined efforts of the Zrrlaks, Neohomos, and Snorkel Sea Scorpions provided them with a safe haven from the parrots, which was a starting basis upon which civilization would eventually be founded.

Stineurp Stineurp Spore Stineurps are descendants of the swift-moving Jetturps. Though still poisonous, their defensive spines have tripled in quantity, making them a difficult foe to contend with.

Although they went extinct, they were later brought back using time travel and DNA extraction by their descendants. They now exist in confined observation tanks for scientific study, the ever-expansive Galactic Ark Project, and as a delicacy food item for extrapteisrestrial filter feeder races.

Supersocial Miniheady Supersocial Miniheady Spore The Supersocial Miniheady are a rare subspecies of Miniheady, known for their very social habits (hence the moniker) and level of intellect often unrivaled by the majority of non-sapient lifeforms. Unlike most Miniheadies, these are the only known omnivorous breeds.

They had no interaction with any of the Nrrlaki lineage, but have been found in the fossil record.

Therioherpeton Therioherpeton Spore Therioherpeton were a species that existed during Planet Pteis' "Permian Period". They were blue-green and bore bifurcated horns, which helps attract mates. They had recently evolved longer bodies and scales to prevent water loss from their ancestors.

The species evolved over time, with the Therioherpeton themselves going extinct at an unknown point in time. However their descendants would eventually be genetically modified by the Grox to create the aggressive, semi-sapient Eryorynchosapiens with the hopes of killing the Space Locusts. This attempt failed however.

Tick Tick OluapPlayer Spore Ticks are a species imported to the planet by the Willosaurs during their early interstellar years. This species survived the release and over the millennia shrank in size to better survive feeding on the small, primitive life found on the world at the time, which had only relatively recently emerged from the oceans.

Its only defense is its speed and the spurs on the back of its legs. Tropicoa Striders come in several different colors, and are ridable. Pteis is primarily known for its yellow and blue Tropicoa Striders, with other colorations being significantly more rare or completely unheard of.

Worm Worm Ichthyostega Spore A descendant of Man, brought to Pteis by the Space Locusts who had discovered their connection to the creatures after learning about the machinations of the mysterious Qu.

Though they had originally been modified to live on a hot, mostly dry planet, when the Space Locust colony ship crashed due to Grox intervention, the surviving Worms scattered. They did not initially handle the much wetter climate of this new world particularly well, especially as their Locust benefactors forgot their connections to the creatures over time.

Left to their own devices, the species continued to burrow through the substrate, though with much less success and as such, began breeding above ground. They were seen as an easy meal for the Pyncush, and by GY 4,271,000,000, the species had been hunted to extinction on the planet.

Planetary Timeline[]

This timeline is based on the Galactic Year, abbreviated "GY". However, as the planet was created in SPORE, GY is used in such a way that 0 is the moment of the Panspermia Event, where an unknown individual or race seeded the galaxy with life, likely as a last-ditch attempt to prevent the Grox from destroying all life.

Cryptozoic Supereon[]

This period of time accounts for the majority of Pteis' geologic time. It spans from the formation of the planet to "Cambrian", where hard-shelled life first begin to appear in abundance.

"Hadean Eon"[]

"Archean Eon"[]

This geologic eon lasted for 1.5 billion years. It is during this time scale that Pteis' crust cooled enough to allow the formation of continents.

At the beginning, the planet was still very hot thanks to remnant heat from planetary accretion as well as from the formation of Pteis' core. This heat was produced by the variety of radioactive elements found throughout the surface. Volcanism was very high, with lava eruptions being the only known type -- ash eruptions would not occur yet at this stage of development.

Because the planet was so much hotter than later periods of time, tectonic activity was more vigorous and thus hardening was not able to occur in vast quantities. This caused the existence of protocontinents, which could not coalesce into larger formations due to this high rate of geologic activity.

By the end of this eon, tectonics as well as temperature were near modern levels. Water had begun to cover the planet and was reaching prevalent levels. It was during this period that the building blocks of life were established, though life on the planet was never given a chance to arise naturally.

"Proterozoic Eon"[]

This geologic eon lasted for 1.9 billion years. It is during this time scale that Pteis' atmosphere began showing signs of free oxygen and the appearance of complex life forms.

Appearances[]

Spore[]

In SPORE, the planet Pteis was the world chosen for Somarinoa's 2018 play through of the game.

Amalgam Online[]

The planet Pteis is one of thousands of worlds that players can visit across the Amalgam Galaxy. It is associated with the Great Trade Organization, and is therefore easily accessible to most players, although those associated with Black Market affiliations including various space pirate groups must sneak on-world or otherwise disguise their affiliations as they are seen as a direct threat to the GTO.

Monster Space[]

In Monster Space, the planet Pteis iself does not appear, although several of their indigenous species have been transported to Urth, including several species of plankton that have been magically transformed into "dire" states.

Dangerous Wilds[]

Again, like in its spiritual prequel Monster Space, the planet does not appear in Dangerous Wilds but the same types of indigenous species appear.

Long Story[]

A number of missions take place on the planet in Long Space during the extensive Chapter 15. The party must travel to the planet during an attempt to prevent a galactic monetary bubble crisis intended to throw the entire galaxy into chaos and poverty, thus making them more susceptible to accepting subjugation by the Crux Space Pirates.

Grown[]

The planet makes an appearance in Chapter 35. The chapter actually starts out on the planet, where the player plays as an Eomurp and has to survive long enough to reach sapience, at which point they leave the planet behind.
